Keeping the Mind Free

Hi everyone! Getting right to it, what played a role on your view of life? Mine was the 2 distinct cultures and environment that I grew up on in Nigeria. Which of course shaped my mind. I walked around self confident in my views as if I was born with them. Lest I forget that I was subject to certain learned behaviors and way of life. That influenced my thought and action. We’ve all had tradition passed down to us from prior generations. Ideals we hold onto as truth or the right way of life. However, the learned behaviors does not transform our minds. Neither does it provide insight on how to relate with others from different cultures. This is why there is division amongst us. So much animosity and strife that makes it hard to keep the mind free and to live by love.

Living a free life is not about self desires. That is not freedom. I am writing about freedom of the soul. Subconsciously free from the control of the mind, will, and emotion. Living a transformed life with the rebirth of the mind. Obviously we cannot be born a second time. However, in humility to the Father of all things we are birthed by the word of God through the Spirit. Matthew 11:25-26, “At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do”. No one can grow in truth that keeps the mind free except through Jesus. He died to set us free, just learn from him. Do not be adamant because the greatest thing to know is that which you do not know.

Hold on to Truth

Hence, transformation comes as we apply our hearts to the word of God. I urge you to turn your ears to wisdom. She was present at the start of life. And only speaks what is right and true. The traditions of the world changes all the time. It’s not constant. However, God is! His word endures forever. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, he keeps the mind free. The scriptures reminds us that he keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast in him. I testify to that. Also, in John 8:31-33 “If you hold on to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”. The truth keeps the mind alert and sober. Doing away with the repeated lies and stories we tell ourselves. Which are the extreme loud voices in our minds.

“Keeping the mind free” is for anyone willing to let go of the standards of the world. For instance, the ideal of church on “sundays” in place of intimacy with God is a religious practice. I write on this because I bought into that “self righteous” life. It’s a practice that keeps one trapped in the dark. Just as an unbeliever sits in the dark. Jesus points out false disciples that call on him saying, “Lord, Lord, did we not do wonderful works in your name”. His response, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers”. Righteousness is not by works. Neither is it earned. It’s a free gift from God that no man can boast. Come into a right standing with God. Only then will you be able to discern His will in your life and keep a free mind.

Live in Christ

Prioritize His word and put it into practice. James 1:22, “Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive ourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like”. If you don’t put the word of God to practice, there will be no transformation in your life. There is not a single soul in this world that God can’t save. And his love doesn’t end with salvation of souls. We believe, then apply his truth in your hearts. There is deep intimacy and prosperity for the one who abides in him. He guides in truth, love, and peace of mind. To live a free life is to live under the shadow of the Most High God.

To live in Christ is to be free from the burden of sin. He also helps us face the troubles that comes in a day. We persevere in suffering by fixing our gaze on Christ, the author of our faith. Hebrew 12:2, “Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. He endured the cross for the joy of you and I in eternity with him. Free from sin and into the freedom and glory of the children of God. Dwelling in his glorious presence forever. Eternity is in your “now“. God is beautiful and makes our joy complete. Taste and see. I assure you that your eyes will be enlightened. Put your faith in him. But, If your heart is hardened to the truth you reject eternal peace.

Tree of Life

Receiving the word of God is like building your house on a firm foundation. Christ is the rock of salvation. Don’t stop at accepting him as Lord and Savior of your life. Open up the Bible and read the word of God. Hold on to the truth that sets one free. In the past, I lived in the tent of fear, self doubt etc. Hence, my mind wasn’t at peace. Having money or success doesn’t mean you live a free life. Because, all the wealth of the world still doesn’t stopped one from feeling empty and broken. There is peace in Christ Jesus. We take so much for granted. Blind to see the glory and goodness of God all around us. Still, he continues to be faithful. He never forsakes his own. Which is proven true time and time again in my life as I run to him for help!

I boast in Christ because I testify to his transformative power in my life. There is nothing in this world that I would trade in place for the hope found in Jesus. Whoever has ears let them hear and seek the path of truth. Both wisdom and intellect are gifts from God. But, we hold on to intellect like it’s the jewel of life and neglect wisdom. Don’t rely on self knowledge. No man is the origin of their story. The origin of mankind is tied to the Creator. If you refuse to accept him, he won’t accept you as his either. Also, if you don’t prioritize God in your life, it simply means you don’t prioritize yourself. Communing with him keeps our mind at peace.

Live in Love

The last thing to note is that his love was present before you and I were born. Never changes even when I walked in the dark. He is a merciful God. Delights in our joy which is why he comes to the rescue of those who seek his face. I write in expression of the joy in my heart. He loves passionately and I know he feels the same for you too. If you are weary and tired of living on your own strength receive the grace already offered to you. Plus an easy yoke. If a person thinks there is nothing to change in their life that’s foolishness. Because, as long as we breathe on earth sin wages a war against us since it is a fallen world. However, Christ conquered the world. Which means we overcome the world once we believe in him. Don’t let your mind be guided by sin.

Thus, we have to remain in him. The Lord provides refuge for those who come to him. In addition, he upholds the righteous with his upright arm. I run to God every time. No shame here, because in him I find comfort and peace. When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we receive the full power of his Spirit. Not partial, quarter, but the complete Spirit that resurrected Christ from the dead works in us. Now, our job is to believe and sow the word of God in our lives. For the more you sow the more you shall reap. This brings success and prosperity in all we do. I hope you humble yourselves before the Lord. Because, only in him will we be able to keep the unshakable peace of mind that our soul desires. Remain Blessed 🙏🏾.
